Sometimes, it’s challenging to fully release our entanglements with family members, ancestors, and past events. We may feel a deep resistance and return to the familiarity of the entanglement.

The loyalty and blind love deeply ingrained in our sense of self and experiences can make a resolution feel strange, uncomfortable, lonely, and less intense. Letting go of these entanglements can feel unsafe and unsettling. I’ve also observed that family systems can be resistant to members releasing entanglements by increasing feelings of guilt and fear.

When we examine family systems, we realize that they are held together by biological bonds between members. Children are connected to their parents and those who came before them, and these individuals are connected to their children and descendants. The family feels complete and whole when these bonds are maintained, and life flows through these bonds, carrying strength and love.

However, when these bonds are interrupted or blocked by overwhelming pain, suffering, or trauma, they can be replaced by entanglements that hold the family together by merging, identifying, and sacrificing to avoid the pain and terror that arises without these family bonds. The past can become more significant than the present, making it increasingly difficult for the family system to support life moving forward.

Challenging entanglements often require that the network of bonds that hold the family system together be fully repaired. Additionally, the events that caused the overwhelming pain, suffering, or trauma must be acknowledged and released. The strength and love that flow through the restoration of these healthy bonds can be precisely what we need to break free from challenging entanglements and live in freedom.

Family Constellations are a highly skillful and intuitive process of exploring the hidden dynamics in family systems that get in the way of its members feeling safe, seen, loved, nourished and make it challenging to develop into adults who can form relationships and connections that allow for successful personal and professional relationships. 
​
Repairing these dynamics requires that we learn to feel and understanding the unique qualities and laws that govern the systemic level. Our experience as systemic beings is quite different from our day to day lives or even our spiritual encounters.

Feeling the qualities of the different systemic dynamics and understanding them with clarity allows us to gain support from the Knowing Field to intervene and restore order and health to the family system.

In my Essentials Elements of Facilitation training which begins on October 24, 2025, we will begin a 13-month journey to feel the systemic level and develop the skills, experiences and understanding that makes for effective and masterful Family Constellations facilitation. 

During this online training we will explore 13 essential topics through lectures, discussions, and interactive activities such as role-playing, zoom room exercises, and demonstrations of constellations. We will also include helpful books, articles, videos, notes and charts

The Essential Elements of Facilitation is a core component of the Family Constellations Facilitator Training Certification, but you don’t have to be enrolled to join. We often have experienced facilitators who are looking to deepen their training in the work.

Bert Hellinger's work changed and evolved. In later years his work was far away from his original Family Constellations. I have always felt strongest in that original Family Constellations work and the time period between 1993 - 2004. 

This is the period where he released Love’s Hidden Symmetry,  Love’s Own Truth, the 6 part video series “A Teaching Seminar on Love’s Hidden Symmetry,” the videos “Healing Love” and “Holding Love” co-facilitated with Hunter Beaumont and my favorite of his videos, "Families in Turmoil." 

This is the Bert Hellinger that is a foundation for my work and helped me gain greater understanding and insights to become more masterful in my Family Constellations workshops, trainings and sessions
