Ortho-Bionomy is a unique
form of bodywork that uses specific positions to provide effective pain relief.
During a session I place the body into
specific healing positions by paying close attention to
the tension levels and movement patterns in muscles, bones, joints and energy.
The founder of Ortho-Bionomy,
Dr. Arthur Lincoln Pauls, D.O., believed that the body had an innate
intelligence and knew how to self-correct. Ortho-Bionomy’s
positions are meant to engage that capacity.
Ortho-Bionomy therapy is extremely helpful for pain caused by acute and chronic tension. It may also help with:
- Low Back Pain
- Hip pain, Sciatica and Sacroiliac pain
- Neck pain, migraines and tension headaches
- Fibromyalgia Syndrome, Chronic Fatique
- Knee, foot and ankle pain
- Trauma and PTSD
- Sprains and inflamation of various joints
- Arthritic conditions
- Whiplash, falls and other impact injuries
Each position
helps reset the sensors in the muscles and joints known collectively as
proprioceptors. These sensors are a key element in painful muscle spasm. Creating the right twist and pressure in the muscles can reset
these sensors very quickly. This supports a fast and effective reduction in
muscle pain and spasm.
Clients arrive
for their sessions wearing loose fitting clothing. Once on the table we
assess the tension levels effecting the structure and function of the body. Specific positions are explored and easy movements are
employed to integrate changes. Most sessions last sixty minutes.
Once the
Practitioner moves a muscle, bone or joint into the correct position
the body begins to: restore normal muscle tone, increase circulation, remove
pressure on nerves, and allow bones and joints to move freely. All the energy
and attention that was trying to protect the body is now available for the healing process.
